Each year the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Woman hosts a Mass to honor the Woman and Youth of the Year for each parish throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
This year's Archdiocesan Woman and Youth of the Year Mass will be held this Saturday, April 6th at 10:30am here at OLA! They will also be recognized at the Sunday 5:30pm Mass on April 7th.

Woman of the Year: Liz Thorington
I am thrilled to recognize Liz Thorington as OLA’s 2024 Woman of the Year! Many of you have
seen Liz serve over the years as a cantor and choir member at our Sunday 11:30am Mass.
She is a true team player in the Music Ministry, whether by attending choir practices, singing the National Anthem before the Run to Church 5K/Fun Run, or sharing her gifts and talents with our congregation weekend after weekend.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Liz has been a fantastic volunteer with the OLA Children’s Choir since the program’s resumption, regularly assisting at Monday rehearsals. It is not an easy task to help manage a group of 40 energetic youngsters that have just gotten off a full day of school, but Liz takes the challenge in stride and uses her musicality to facilitate the learning process.
After attending Christ Renews His Parish last year, Liz joined me on the music team as we prepared for the 2024 rendition of the retreat this past January. Throughout the planning process I was struck by her sheer humbleness and willingness to give her time and serve in this important role. She truly understands that music has the power to change lives and is always willing to use her abilities to enhance the worship and experience of all ages in our vast community.
Ultimately, Liz’s contributions to OLA and selfless, generous spirit are an embodiment of the Marist motto, Sub Mariae Nomine (“under the name of Mary”). Please join me in congratulating Liz on this well-deserved honor!
