Anointing of the Sick

“By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends

those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them.

And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God

by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.”

– Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1499

The anointing of the sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength

during an illness, especially near the time of death. It is a rite that is performed by a priest

to convey God’s grace to the recipient, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Weekly Scheduled Anointing of the Sick

Our priests administer the sacrament after the Saturday, 5pm Mass for any who are in need of healing. After Mass move to the altar server chairs in the tabernacle transept section of the church and wait for the priest to arrive.
