Father Dan Invites You to Follow Him on His Upcoming Pilgrimage
Dear OLA family,
Â
A few years ago, I planned to lead a pilgrimage to Oberammergau, Germany, to see the famous Passion Play, a dramatic portrayal of Our Lord’s passion staged entirely by local villagers, performed every ten years going back to 1634 and drawing visitors from around the world to that small Bavarian town. Unfortunately, the year of our pilgrimage was 2020. Needless to say, the trip never happened.
Â
My desire to lead a pilgrimage persisted, so more than a year ago I began plans to lead a Marian pilgrimage to Europe in the fall of 2025, visiting important shrines of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Portugal, Spain and France. Happily, it seems unlikely that another pandemic will scuttle our plans. I will be travelling September 7th - 19th.
Â
While I am a bit remiss about being away for twelve days, having only arrived at the parish a little over two months ago, this pilgrimage will be an opportunity to bring the needs and intentions of our parish and schools to the various shrines we will visit, asking our patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary, to intercede for our whole community.
Â
To that end, I invite you to share with me your prayer intentions by visiting my travel blog. Click here to sign up, submit your prayer requests and follow my journey. I’ll post daily updates with descriptions and photos of the Marian shrines we visit so you can see where your intentions are being offered.
Â
While I am away, the parish will be in the capable hands of Fr. Nick, supported by Msgr. Lopez, Fr. Robbie and the fine staff of our parish and schools.
Â
Please pray for me and my fellow pilgrims and be certain of mine for all of you.
Â
Under the name of Mary,
Fr. Dan
