Each year the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Woman hosts a Mass to honor the Woman and Youth of the Year for each parish throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
OLA’s Woman and Youth of the Year will be recognized at the 5:30pm Mass on Sunday, April 30th.
Congratulations to our Youth of the Year for 2023 - Liam O’Toole! Liam has served our parish in a number of ways over the past several years and we are very excited to give him this honor.
Liam has been a steady presence at any and all Youth Group events over the last four years, and has showed a willingness to step up to volunteer for anything big or small; whether it’s leading the group in a prayer or helping with an activity we are doing that evening, he can always be counted on! In addition to this, Liam has served as a Confirmation Teen Leader in the last two years where he has led and walked with several of our teens as they prepare to be Confirmed. Both by leading small groups and sharing his testimony with the entire group, Liam has helped make our Confirmation Program an incredible experience over the couple of years as a leader. he has also served as Lector and regular volunteer at the 5:30 Sunday Mass! He has also stepped up to serve as a retreat leader the last two years at our Youth Ministry retreats each January, where he has mentored younger teens in small groups and helped plan the weekend.
As a part of his Eagle Scout Project, Liam also oversaw the construction the incredible fire pit that sits outside of our Youth Room and Parish Offices, which has already gotten a lot of use by the Youth Ministry and parish community over the last couple of years.
Outside of OLA, he is involved in robotics, theater, and the Junior Classical League. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Latin Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, and the Thespian Honor Society. As previously mentioned, he is an Eagle Scout and is also a part of the Marist Football Video Unit, where he filmed clips for the team. He is attending the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and will be studying Classics.
