Recently we received a call on our OLA helpline from a mother of SIX boys, all under 10, who moved to Atlanta from the Midwest with only 4-6 weeks worth of savings. A falling-out had
occurred with family and she moved here intending to start a new chapter in her and her children’s lives. She called St. Vincent de Paul after depleting all her cash reserves. She was approved for Section 8 housing and had a solid long-term plan for employment and child-care. But she and her boys needed shelter for a week or two until the long term housing came through. OLA's SVDP conference provided 2 1/2 weeks at a local hotel, groceries from our food pantry, and clothing vouchers for the Chamblee SVDP Thrift Store to tide this family over.
Your donations every month allow us to assist neighbors in need such as this relocated family and we thank you. Donate today at https://buff.ly/3PiaLxz.
