Letter from Father Dan Regarding the Minnesota School Shooting

Dear OLA Family,

Like many of you, I am just learning of the horrific news regarding the school shooting that occurred this morning at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I cannot imagine the pain of these families who lost their children and all those who have been touched by this tragic event. 

As the pastor of a parish with multiple schools on our campus, I am committed to ensuring that our children are kept safe while they are here. I am already in conversation with Mandy Crock, principal of our grade school, and Kathleen Jackowski, director of our preschool, to review our security procedures and discern any measures that need to be taken to further strengthen security on our entire campus. 

In the meantime, I invite you to join me in praying for the precious children whose lives were tragically taken this morning, for those who were injured, for their families, and for the whole Annunciation parish and school community. We entrust them and our own community to the protection and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Assumption, asking her to grant consolation to all those who are suffering during this time of tragedy.
