Kairos Prison Ministry Retreat and Hospitality Volunteers Needed
The mission of the international Kairos Prison Ministry is to "share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women and youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities."
The OLA Kairos Ministry serves the men of Hancock State Prison in Sparta, Georgia (near Augusta). After a multi-year hiatus our parishioners were part of a team that hosted a retreat for the imprisoned men in May. Click here to see the impact the retreat makes.
The ministry is looking for men who will join them in ministering to the men at the next retreat - hopefully, in late October. Along with the weekend, training and participation in planning meetings is required.
The ministry is also hoping to create a Kairos Hospitality Ministry that will travel to Sparta and - from the outside - help support the 30-35 men who lead the retreat by offering evening meals.
