Dear OLA Parish Family,

One of the developments in parish life after the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) was the promotion of pastoral councils, that is, bodies of parishioners and certain members of the pastoral staff that assist the pastor in fostering the pastoral activity of the parish. While not mandated by Canon Law, pastoral councils have long been employed by OLA’s pastors. I am happy to continue that tradition, recognizing it as a valuable source of assistance in my leadership of the parish.

With the terms of three sitting members of the council set to expire this spring, I am calling for nominations to fill those positions. Requirements for consideration are as follows:

· Registered in the parish for at least one year, 18 years of age or older, fully initiated in the Church (i.e. received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) and in good standing.

· Ability to attend council meetings the 2nd Monday of each month (August through May) at 6:30 PM. Dates are subject to change if the 2nd Monday falls on a holiday.

I invite you to prayerfully consider serving on the OLA pastoral council. If you would like to be a candidate, please scan the QR code below to submit your nomination. If you know someone who would be a strong candidate, please encourage him or her to apply. The deadline to submit your nomination is Sunday, March 30. You will be notified the following week regarding your candidacy. Pastoral council elections will be held the weekend of April 25/26, the final decision for membership residing with the pastor.

Need More Details? Current Pastoral Council members are happy to answer any questions about their roles and responsibilities. Visit www.olachurch.org/pastoral-council for contact information or simply email pastoralcouncil@olachurch.org.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration and continued support.

Sincerely in Christ,

Father Daniel P. Ketter, JCL

Pastor

What a wonderful opportunity to get more involved in parish life! The Pastoral Council plays such a meaningful role in shaping the direction of our community, and it's inspiring to see Father Ketter carry on this tradition of collaborative leadership rooted in the spirit of Vatican II. Stepping into a leadership role like this can feel both exciting and a little overwhelming — kind of like when you're handed a New Assignment Help sheet and you're not sure where to begin, but once you dive in, it becomes incredibly rewarding. If you've ever felt called to contribute more beyond Sunday Mass, this could be your moment. The March 30th nomination deadline gives us time to pray and reflect on whether…
