Middle School Missions Camp: Help Teach the Next Generation to Serve

Do you have a passion for service and want to share it with to middle schoolers in our parish? We are seeking parents of 5th-7th graders to assist in keeping our annual Middle School Missions Camp (MSMC) going to help give many more middle schoolers this opportunity each summer! The goal of MSMC is to encourage middle schoolers to spend a week experiencing the Holy Spirit's call to serve those in need in our community. The current Missions Camp team would like to share the joys of working with this age group as they learn about social justice and how they can make a difference! The camp is very hands-on so the campers are able to interact with the agencies that serve the homeless, the elderly, children with special needs, and other service opportunities. If you have children in this age group, please prayerfully consider becoming part of the Missions Camp team and helping the camp continue at OLA.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

The Second Vatican Council reminds us that the Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." Therefore, assisting the clergy in distributing Holy Communion to the faithful is one of the most important ministries that lay persons can perform. We are looking for more EMHCs to serve our parish community.

Potential EMHCs must:
- Be 16 or older,
- Have received the three sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation), and
- Be married in the Church (if married).

Trainings are held throughout the year.

If you are interested in becoming an EMHC, contact Sharon Adams at

Welcome Greeters!  Please join this fun ministry and be the smiling face representing our OLA parish. For the Greeter Ministry you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to Mass, and stay 10-15 minutes after to greet new and active parishioners, and answer any questions they may have about our Parish.  What a great way to participate in your parish (and receive 'Active' Parishioner
status).  Feel free to reach out to with any questions.

Paul’s letter to the Romans (10:17) tells us that “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ.” Lectors are members of our parish who are called to joyfully proclaim God’s message and the Prayers of the Faithful at our liturgies.

If you are interested in becoming a Lector please email Deacon Ed Patterson at

Sacristan Training

October 19 at 7pm | The Church

Sacristans take care of the sacristy and assist the clergy in preparation of vessels and other material needed for Mass, both before the Mass and in clean-up afterwards. The greatest need is for sacristans at the weekend Masses. While the ministry of Sacristan is not as visible as that of Lector or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, it is an important “behind the scenes ministry.”

At OLA, the duties of Sacristans include preparing the ciboria for communion, a cruet for the wine offering, the priest’s chalice, cups for the precious blood (when we resume communion under both species), purificators, and the water, bowl, and towel for the washing of hands, and cleaning the purified vessels after Mass.

We invite any interested parishioners to become Sacristans. There will be a training session Wednesday, October 19, at 7:00pm in the church. Contact Deacon Ed Patterson at  to sign up for the training or with any questions.

Struggling to find the perfect ministry to join because of your busy schedule during the week? Then the Usher Ministry is for you! Ushers arrive at least 20 minutes before our weekend Mass times to welcome all who enter into our church. Ushers also assist with seating, collecting the offertory, and handing out bulletins after Mass.

Join us in being the welcoming face of OLA to all who enter our doors!
