Former UCONN & WNBA all-star Rita Williams, Athletics Director for OLA, will be organizing summer Basketball Camps at the OLA Murray Center Gym, which will be aimed at teaching kids about the game of basketball, including the rules and regulations, as well as tips and techniques to play the game more effectively. The camps will be held this June.
Rita played college basketball for the University of Connecticut, playing for the Huskies from 1995-98 and was inducted into the UCONN Hall of Fame in 2009. She was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the 1998 Big East Tournament where she led UCONN to the conference title. After starring with the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team she was a professional basketball player in the WNBA and was the 13th pick in the 1998 draft, selected by the Washington Mystics. She also played for the Indiana Fever, Houston Comets and the Seattle Storm and was the first WNBA All-Star for the Indiana Fever in 2001.
