Children's Religious Education

”Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matt 19:13-15)

The Parish School of Religion (Sunday School) assists parents in handing-on the Catholic faith to their children. Volunteer catechists meet with children in a classroom setting and promote knowledge of our beliefs, full and active participation in the liturgy, moral formation, and prayer life.

The classes are for children in grades pre-k through 9 who do not attend a Catholic school during the week.
The program begins in September and concludes in May.
Classes meet weekly on Sunday morning from 10:10 to 11:20.

NOTES FOR THE NEW PSR YEAR:

  • Please join us for Mass at 9:00 am on August 30th to welcome everyone back to the Parish School of Religion.  Following Mass is a MANDATORY parent meeting in Marist Hall.
  • Many of our lower grades are full and a waiting list has begun.  We are still seeking additional volunteers to help in the classrooms which would alleviate our current waiting list.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

OLA is offering a new Religious Formation for 3-6 year-old children with typical development and special needs:

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based religious formation program for children. It seeks to create and facilitate a sacred, “hands on” space for children called an Atrium, in which they can hear, ponder, and celebrate the most essential mysteries of the Christian faith as revealed in the Scriptures and the Liturgy. Originally developed in Rome by Sofia Cavelletti and Gianna Gobbi fifty years ago, the CGS continues to spread world-wide. To learn more about CGS visit the website at http://www.cgsusa.org/ .

Participants are selected on a first-come basis, so register ASAP. Please contact Sue Soha at specialsettings@earthlink.net or 770-458-6732 for further information.
