A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR

The heart of any parish is worship and from that worship stems ministry. Our partaking of the weekly, and daily, Eucharist prepares us to go into the world and serve God’s children. It also calls us to live in community with others.  Here at Our Lady of the Assumption it calls us to create a community that is always reaching to grow spiritually, to serve the less fortunate, and to grow in love and fellowship with one another.

We need you to create that community and the Festival of Ministries is a great way for you to join in on the journey with us! Join us after all English speaking Masses this weekend, September 15 and 16 to learn about the many ministries of OLA.

Our parish is blessed in that we have over 70 ministries that allow us to serve others or to be served in times of need. We have ministries that form our faith or bring us together in joyful, communal celebration! There truly is something for everyone – every age, every talent level, every time commitment availability.

This will be a chance for you to stroll through the gym and see what’s available to you – and  perhaps win one of our great raffle prizes! You’ll be given a passport of ministries when you enter the gym. Each ministry will place a stamp on your passport when you visit them – each stamp is worth one raffle ticket. The more ministries you visit, the more chances to win! The Drawing will be held after the 5:30pm Sunday Mass. You do not need to be present to win.

Refreshments will be provided. We’ll have a play area for the kids so that parents can explore the ministry tables. And Bob the Bobcat will join us after the 9am and 11:30am Masses!

You won’t be asked to sign up for anything at that time (but you are welcome to). Just come, look, and learn.

The following two weekends we’ll ask you to let us know, via a commitment card, what ministries you are interested in participating in.

I look forward to seeing you at the Festival!

Yours in Mary, Our Mother,  Father Jim
