Jesuit Father Gregory J. Boyle is the founder and executive director of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, CA and the author of the 2010 New York Times bestseller, Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion, and he is the subject of a 2012 documentary, G-Dog.
From 1986-92, he served as pastor of Dolores Mission Church which was at the time the poorest Catholic parish in LA. Fr. Boyle and parish and community members created an alternative school/day care program for the gang-involved youth.
In 1988 he created Jobs for Future in 2001 which has since become the independent nonprofit organization, Homeboy Industries. Today, Homeboy Industries employs and trains former gang members in a range of social enterprises and provides critical social services to over 10,000 people annually.
